You’ll hear from us over and over again how our lives have been transformed through dōTERRA. Not just a career, it’s awakened our family’s purpose to transform lives in a way that requires all of us to participate. We all have an inner fire raging within us to live our passion, yet our daily actions don’t feed that flame. Every opportunity we don’t create, every risk we don’t take, puts us further from our true paths. We chose to ignite that fire and refuse to let dim into embers. When our family stumbled into dōTERRA 3 years ago, we weren’t prepared for the cascade of events that has lead to this day, to this decision, to this adventure.

On Friday, January 13th, after 17 years of service at a National Lab at Stanford University, Jerry put in his resignation so that we as a family could relocate from the only home we have known in Northern California,  to Gig Harbor, Washington. This may come as a shock to many. Outwardly, as a family unit, we are living the dream life… steady dual income, the ability for one of us to stay home and raise our children, a beautiful home nestled in wine country,  with great schools and a thriving community…but there is one thing we don’t have, and that is each other. Day in an day out, before the sun is up, Jerry makes the long tread to a job that doesn’t bring him joy. Weeks, months, and years have slipped by in this socioeconomic psychosis, sacrificing milestones and memories for a good salary but it didn’t provide freedom at all. It kept us trapped in an unending race to make more, be more, and ultimately have less.

From the day we met almost 10 years ago, we have always day dreamed of a slower paced life, with more nature, less stress, and more time together. Like clockwork, every 6 months we would hit a wall with the mundane life here in California of paying too much for too little, and research where we could go. With most desires, the fear of the unknown kept us prisoner from taking real action. Thoughts of doubt and failure would creep in, deflating what was once the echoing song we both knew all the words to, and we would get back to our life like a bad cable TV show rerun. Time and time again, this mania of wanting to take risks and settling back into mediocrity became a cycle we couldn’t escape. Not anymore.

Why do we only take risks and make the right decisions to honor each other when time is running out? That is not living. What matters most is here, now, in our own two hands. It’s the call to become who we were meant to, to decide we want something more and chase it, no matter what the cost. Our life lacked adventure. Our children deserve all of us, both of us, every day. It took us almost 10 years, 5 of those as parents, to fully understand our purpose in this life. We have to lead by example. We have to bring as much healing, as much magic, as much love to our family and others as possible. We need to be the bravery others can be inspired by. dōTERRA has given us an amazing platform to move mountains. So much more than just holistic health, the real work lies ahead in the ways we will continue to connect, transform, and help others live their true destiny, and have the building blocks to create their dream life.

It is with much gratitude and humility, we accept this challenge as a family. We hope to be a lighthouse to others, who desperately want more. We are giving ourselves permission to explore all that this life can offer, in a location that aligns with our real purpose. Adventure is out there, and the excitement to experience it as a family, gives us more joy and happiness than you can imagine. Thank you all for believing in us. Your support and kindness has been the backbone of our bravery. It’s been the difference in feeling pushed into the vast unknown and us leaping towards it. Our new freedom will allow us to serve in such a larger capacity, and most importantly, we can leave this life when it’s time, without any regrets.

Health, Happiness, and Adventure,

The Camuso Family
